Porirua Junior Sports Leagues

The Porirua Junior Sport Leagues are a great community service offered by the YMCA for young people in the Porirua area. These leagues offer numerous benefits including keeping fit, improving coordination, building teamwork and developing a healthy competitive spirit!

At YMCA we offer a variety of sports that your kids schools can be involved in. These include basketball, netball, indoor soccer, flag football, lots more. Our junior leagues are based at Te Rauparaha Arena which means we can offer various leagues all year round!

Our indoor sports leagues are very popular. With over 10000 total participation’s in both 2011 & 2012 we are on track to keeping tomorrows sports stars fit and active! These leagues offer the perfect opportunity to challenge your kids and students, and keep up their fitness in a fun and social environment.

We have made some changes to the programme in 2013 based on feedback received from schools, teachers and parents. These changes should hopefully allow for greater opportunities to participate particularly from our younger sports stars.

Below you can download the 2013 Sports Leagues Handbook for teachers and parents. This booklet outlines details of the sports running this year with costs, rules, registration forms and deadlines. Please note these are subject to change.

You will note as you read through this handbook that we have endeavored to give you the full years programme up front with costs, dates and other important information. Spaces are limited in terms of team numbers across all sports and we would like to see as many schools participating as possible however a degree of first come first served will need to apply.

We do value the feedback we have received and we hope some of the changes to be implemented in 2013 allow for an even more successful year of junior sport
