KIA KAHA AKE – GIVE IT A GO!

The Porirua Junior Sport Leagues are a great community service offered by the YMCA for young people in the Porirua area.   They have proved very popular with over 10,000 total participants each year and offer numerous benefits including keeping fit, , improving coordination, developing skills, building teamwork and developing a healthy competitive spirit all in a fun environment.

At YMCA we offer a variety of sports that your child’s school can be involved in including basketball, indoor soccer, flag football and lots more.  Junior Leagues are based at Te Rauparaha Arena which means we can offer various leagues throughout the year.

To kick off the year we have Flag Football and Indoor Soccer!   Please download the new registration form and information leaflet which outlining includes costs, rules and deadlines.

Spaces are limited in terms of team numbers across all sports. We would like to see as many schools participating as possible, however, a degree of first come first served will need to apply.

Important notices

UPDATE: Due to late cancellations the term’s draw for Flag Football Yrs 3&4 and 5&6 have been updated. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Please note that some weeks you will play 2 games.  This is because we had uneven numbers across nearly all the leagues or barely enough to make a league but in the interests of participation I  didn’t want to cancel any leagues or team registrations.

You will also see that the first games start at 3:45pm to allow more time to get to the venue and get ready.

YMCA will endeavour to run the flag football league regardless of weather & it will be the schools decision to play or not if it is raining.   If you decide to not play please let me know by 1pm on the day so we contact your opponent to let them know.

We have also changed the 2 girls required in Flag Football rule to a guideline.   Obviously we would like to encourage as many girls to be involved as possible but a few schools have struggled to find girls to play and we don’t want the other team members to miss out on playing in the league .

Paul Sayers is the new Sports Leagues Floor Manager so you can talk to either myself or Paul if you have any questions or issues.
